Who is the real culprit:

I observed, when we talk to fight against pollution most of the people blame our government. They use to say government should take action against big organisation and factories because they are making big impact by industrial waste. But, wait for a while and think these questions-

Why those factories are producing such products?

Who is consuming their products?

How industries are earning profits?

You will end up finding that factories are running and producing a lot of waste because we are consuming their products. We are the actual culprits.

I agree government should take appropriate action accordingly, but we can not wait and just watch. Just a small awareness and a bit action can bring a big change.

Anyway, we talked about the problem what most people do. But here I am giving you a few ideas which can drastically change the scenario. But, before starting I want you to ask a question to yourself.

Do you really want to take actions on individual level to bring a pollution free and healthy air to your next generation? If your answer is a YES then answer just one more question.

Are you ready to take some tough but good decisions to change your lifestyle? If your answer is again a YES then read the full article.

Stop using one time use plastics:

One time use plastics includes the poly bag you get from small shops and from road side vendors to carry your things. Water bottle while your journey, plastic cups and glass in occasions like wedding.

Practically these plastics are hard to recycle because of poor procedure of collection. So, we should not use these plastics or take responsibility for its proper collection to recycle after use.

The best way is use your own carry bag always to carry your things after shopping in local market.

Plastic comes in different categories of recycling numbers. It varies from P1 to P7. In high dose a dangerous chemical BPA (bisphenol A), usually found in plastic can be responsible for obesity, cancer and many other problems in fetus during pregnancy. It’s known as endocrine disrupting compound.

As per NatGeo article steering clear of plastics with the recycling numbers 3, 6, and 7, which all contain compounds of concern. You should not put plastics in dishwashers or the microwave, as it can damage them and cause leaching more BPA or its alternatives. If any plastic vessel looks aged or scratched throw it away and use glass or stainless steel containers rather than aluminium cans whenever possible.

Bisphenol A can leach into food from consumer products such as polycarbonate tableware, food storage containers, water bottles, and baby bottles.

The degree to which BPA leaches from polycarbonate bottles into liquid may depend more on the temperature of the liquid or bottle, than the age of the container. BPA can also be found in breast milk.

Precautions to be taken:

  • Do not use microwave for polycarbonate plastic containers. Polycarbonate is strong and durable, but over time it may break down from overuse at high temperatures
  • Plastic containers have recycle codes on the bottom. Some, but not all, plastics that are marked with recycle codes 3 or 7 may be made with BPA
  • Reduce your use of canned foods
  • When possible, use glass, porcelain or stainless steel containers, particularly for hot food or liquids
  • Use baby bottles that are BPA free

Stop drinking unhealthy energy drinks:

You may observe most of the so called energy drinks or packaged in plastic or aluminium bottles. Bisphenol A can leach into food from the protective internal epoxy resin coatings of canned foods, especially, if it is stored in hot place. You may think these are stored in refrigerator but for your kind information while transporting these products are in contact with direct sunlight which is enough hot to produce leaching effect.

Use air purifier indoor plants:

You might be surprised that indoor pollution is more dangerous than outdoor. You should atleast have 5 air purifier indoor plants in your home. In a study, NASA suggested few plants which reduces the indoor pollution by reducing the amount of dangerous chemicals like benzene, formaldehyde etc.

Few plants are areca palm, snake plant, money plant, Flamingo Lily, spider plant etc. They do not need much care as well. Please let us know if you want a detail article on this topic.

Stop consuming packaged food:

Shinier the packaging, it’s harder to recycle. Yes there are 4-5 layers in packaging including aluminium. It can only be used to manufacture oil by gasification and pyrolysis. Gasification and pyrolysis is an expensive technique. Read our article for more information on this. Are you eating fast food or poison?

If possible stop eating non veg, if not possible at least reduce the frequency:

It might sound strange but try to understand. Due to polybag pollution in rivers and sea many fishes consumes these polythene material. This comes in the food chain when we consume those fishes. In small quantity the same thing happen with chicken and mutton as well.

Stop using refined oil, sugar, salts or at least reduce the amount and frequency:

These refining factories produces large amount of air pollutant and refined products are not healthy as well. So, we should reduce the consumption of these refined food products and use it’s healthy alternatives. Read our article for more information on this. Refined oil: making you sick every day?

Stop using leather products strictly-

If you go to leather industrial area then only you will come to know its impact. Those industries produces leather products with a lot of chemicals using during the process and kill innocent animals as well for the same. They produce it because we demand it. If demand will be less then supply will automatically reduces. So the production as well.

Buy any electronic item only when you need it not when you want it:

Not all the electronics but the items which harms the environment the most. It includes Air conditioner, microwave, mobiles etc. If you cannot stop using it at least try to use them for as less time as possible. Believe me this directly impacts our environment.

Conclusion:

There are people who are ready to do anything to just earn more money from their already earned money. They will make you fool. They will not worry about environment because they can afford to have everything. They forget that their money can make this distance a bit far but pollution will affect them as well after some time.

You can easily observe that 4 to 5 decades back only poor people were affected by polluted water, unhygienic food and misunderstanding that everything will be alright by it Self.

Now, you can see the poor and middle class people are affected most by pollution. So after few decades it will affect the rich people also.

Those people can be rich but not intellectual. So I think we should start taking actions towards this problem instead of waiting the situation to come at our neck.

Do not wait for anyone else to take the first steps. You must take action on your responsibility. Many people already doing these stuffs. You are not alone.
