Heart as an organ-
first of all, A heart is made up of cardiac muscles which helps to pumps the blood throughout the body. The heart is a muscular organ which is protected by a rib cage and normally placed in the middle with a slightly left side.
Heart supplies the blood to every organ except cornea because cornea does not have any blood vessel. It receives nourishment from tears and aqueous humor liquid.
It contains basically four chambers which are right atrium, left atrium (Both are upper chambers), right ventricle and left ventricle (Both are lower chambers)
Four-valve which are Tricuspid valve, Mitral valve, Pulmonary valve, and Aortic valve
The heart pumps with the help of its conduction system which consists of SA node (sinoatrial node), AV node (Atrioventricular node) and Atrioventricular bundle (Bundle of HIS).
Heart cancer is very rare because cardiac cells stops dividing very early in life
How heart works:
In a general idea, it will be a revision for those who are already studied about heart and people who don’t have much idea about heart working, for them it may be more interesting.
In another words,
The heart pumps oxygenated blood throughout the body with Arteries, yes the red ones. Similarly, All cells take oxygen from blood then this blood gets de-oxygenated and returns to the heart with veins, yes the blue ones.
This is the reason we get IV injection in the veins so the medication goes to whole body via heart. Arteries will take it to the particular organ.

Cholesterol is a fat-like substance produced by liver and also we get it by food. Cholesterol is useful for making Hormone, Vitamin D, Bile etc. It mainly of two types-
Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL/Bad Cholesterol) and High-Density lipoprotein (HDL/Good cholesterol). LDL travels through the blood and provide cholesterol to cells that needed.
On the earth, whales are the mammals that have the largest heart.
When any heart problem starts:
Usually in medical science it starts with the cholesterol. Too much LDL is mostly dangerous, because it deposits on the wall of an artery if there is any injury of infection happens.
Finally, this LDL and other substances (fat, cellular waste products) make plaque (fatty deposit) and narrowing the wall of the artery which reduce the space for blood.
The most likely place for the plaque is coronary artery (Artery which provides blood to heart tissue), called as coronary artery disease. This plaque (which affects blood flow) increases the chance of heart attack (Myocardial infarction).
As a result, if this plaque forms in the carotid artery (the artery which provides blood to the brain) can reduce blood flow to the brain therefore, increase chances of stroke.
Your heart is located in the middle of the chest, not in the left. However, heart is slightly tilted to the left side.
What to do in an emergency:
First of all call to a medical emergency which can take the patient to the hospital (INDIA – 102 and US – 911).
Treatment of a heart attack:
If you are prone to any type of heart disease, it’s better to consult with a doctor and keep emergency medicines. They may prescribe you aspirin in the emergency which thins the blood and nitro-glycerin which opens up the artery.
These medications can help in heart attack to prevent it getting worse. After consulting to a physician medicines must be consumed.
Operative treatment in severe condition of heart attack:
With help of electrocardiogram doctors can diagnose heart attack. To see heart muscle damage and to diagnose blockage locations blood tests and other tests are done. Below are the surgical treatment-
Angioplasty– It is a surgery in which re-opening of blockade artery done by inflating it with balloon.
Stent placement– A metal polymer stent which is placed in the artery to keep it open.
Coronary artery bypass surgery- This surgery is used for more extensive severe blockages. Piece of artery or vein from another body part use for it and blood flow re-route from blocked location which keeps allow blood flow to the heart.
First time a pacemaker was implanted in the year 1958 in the heart of Arne Larsson. Interestingly, He lived longer than his surgeon who did the surgery.
