How heart works:

In a general idea, it will be a revision for those who are already studied about heart and people who don’t have much idea about heart working, for them it may be more interesting.

In another words,

The heart pumps oxygenated blood throughout the body with Arteries, yes the red ones. Similarly, All cells take oxygen from blood then this blood gets de-oxygenated and returns to the heart with veins, yes the blue ones.

This is the reason we get IV injection in the veins so the medication goes to whole body via heart. Arteries will take it to the particular organ.

When any heart problem starts:

Usually in medical science it starts with the cholesterol. Too much LDL is mostly dangerous, because it deposits on the wall of an artery if there is any injury of infection happens.

Finally, this LDL and other substances (fat, cellular waste products) make plaque (fatty deposit) and narrowing the wall of the artery which reduce the space for blood.

The most likely place for the plaque is coronary artery (Artery which provides blood to heart tissue), called as coronary artery disease. This plaque (which affects blood flow) increases the chance of heart attack (Myocardial infarction).

As a result, if this plaque forms in the carotid artery (the artery which provides blood to the brain) can reduce blood flow to the brain therefore, increase chances of stroke.
